Project Overview

Improving community health often requires more than education—it requires collaboration, strategic planning, and the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders.

As Project Coordinator for Hamilton County Public Health, I led the coordination and implementation of a grant-funded tobacco control initiative spanning six municipalities. The project focused on supporting local governments through the development and adoption of tobacco control ordinances while strengthening community partnerships and public education efforts.

Working with elected officials, municipal leadership, community organizations, healthcare partners, and residents, I helped guide each community through a collaborative process that balanced public health priorities with local needs and decision-making.

The Challenge

Implementing policy across multiple jurisdictions requires far more than drafting ordinances.

Each municipality had its own priorities, leadership structure, decision-making process, and community concerns. Success depended on building trust, maintaining consistent communication, coordinating numerous stakeholders, and keeping projects moving despite competing priorities and changing timelines.

The initiative also required careful grant management, public outreach, and communication strategies that would educate communities while supporting local leaders throughout implementation.

My Approach

As Project Manager, I coordinated every phase of implementation while serving as a liaison between public health, local government, and community partners.

Key responsibilities included:

Results & Impact

The initiative successfully supported coordinated tobacco control efforts across six municipalities while strengthening partnerships between local governments, healthcare organizations, and community stakeholders.

Beyond policy implementation, the project established communication systems and collaborative workflows that improved stakeholder engagement and enhanced the county's ability to coordinate future public health initiatives.
