Public Health Training & Curriculum Development
Project type
Building Community Health Knowledge Through Sustainable Education Programs
Date
July 2017 – March 2018
Location
Shkoder & Bushat, Albania
Project Overview
Education is one of the most effective tools for improving long-term community health. Following several successful public health initiatives in Albania, I led the development and delivery of comprehensive health education programs designed for students, educators, and community members.
Working with schools, municipal leaders, educators, and community organizations, I designed training curricula that addressed locally identified health priorities while creating educational resources that could continue benefiting the community after project completion.
Over the course of the project, these initiatives reached more than 2,500 participants through interactive education, community engagement, and stakeholder collaboration.
The Challenge
While health education existed in limited forms, there was no coordinated curriculum tailored to the community's specific needs.
The project required developing culturally appropriate educational materials, engaging diverse audiences, and creating sustainable programs that educators and community partners could continue using independently.
My Approach
As Project Lead, I directed every stage of curriculum development and program implementation.
Responsibilities included:
-Conducting educational needs assessments.
-Collaborating with teachers, schools, and community leaders.
-Designing public health curricula and educational materials.
-Developing implementation schedules and evaluation methods.
-Facilitating health education sessions.
-Coordinating stakeholder communication.
-Monitoring participation and collecting feedback.
-Evaluating outcomes and recommending future improvements.
Results & Impact
The project successfully delivered health education programming to more than 2,500 students, teachers, and community members.
The curriculum strengthened community awareness of important public health topics while providing educators with practical resources that could continue supporting future learning.
The initiative also strengthened collaboration between schools, local government, and community organizations, helping build a more coordinated approach to community health promotion.
